In 2015, the United Kingdom and other members of the UN committed to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals. These aim to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all, by achieving 17 goals by 2030.
The SDGs apply to the UK domestically and call on government and business to contribute towards their achievement. There is a clear connection between the SDGs and government’s ambition around social value, which further supports the case for delivering social value through commercial activities.
