7. Develop talent through skills-based learning to create and retain quality jobs. Incorporate sustainability and social value learning and awareness, founding the culture and knowledge across the business and wider value chain.
8. Attract and retain a diverse workforce and foster a truly inclusive culture where everyone can bring their true selves to work.
9. Health and wellbeing are fundamental to our people and the communities we work in. We have a duty of care to create a happy, healthy and resilient workforce with appropriate reward and recognition.
10. Mitie Foundation principles to be incorporated into all operational delivery at contract level. Consider underrepresented groups for employment and promote volunteering to meet all stakeholder goals.
2.1 Championing over 1,000 live apprenticeships.
2.2 Increasing access to skills, training and qualifications through our Learning & Development team.
2.3 Removing barriers to employment, engaging underrepresented groups and creating a platform for volunteering projects.
2.4 Embedding the principles and methods of the Mitie Foundation to engage, employ and develop talent that reflects the communities we serve.
Our social strategy actions include:
1. Enhance and promote our apprenticeship programme to maximise use of our Apprenticeship Levy contribution (£7.5m per year).
2. Identifying the key skills required for the business.
3. Actively promoting all aspects of ESG to attract and retain talent.
4. Establishing a development programme through our partnership with the Supply Chain Sustainability School and embedding sustainability and social value across the business.
5. Enhancing existing training, knowledge and awareness in sustainability and social value to engage our front line colleagues through our Action Now initiative.
6. Partnering with key customers and suppliers to pass on unspent Apprenticeship Levy contributions in order to enhance Mitie's offering and add social value through increasing skills in the communities we serve.
We remain committed to achieving the following goals through to 2025:
Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategy consists of four core pillars:
1. Developing an inclusive organisation to strengthen our ED&I capability through leadership and all-colleague training, promoting inclusive behaviours and more informed decision making.
2. Creating career fulfilment to deliver an inclusive and representative workforce, offering all colleagues clear opportunities to develop and progress.
3. Amplifying and responding to our colleague voice and building trusting relationships that define our future.
4. Driving business growth to enhance core people policies and procedures.
1. Establish a plan of action to support mental, physical and financial wellbeing.
2. Link ED&I teams into the wellbeing strategy to reflect the growing awareness that standardised approaches to wellbeing may not be as effective for diverse colleague needs.
3. Building trust and confidence through our ED&I activities to increase disclosure rates for gender, ethnicity and disability reporting, plus more detailed equal pay audits.
4. Re-establish a sense of belonging to combat the effects of hybrid working and the impact that lockdowns have had on work colleagues.
5. Enhance existing training, knowledge and awareness in health, safety and wellbeing.
6. Continue to offer best-in-class benefits and recognition, linking reward to our ESG agenda.
1. Continuing to deliver programmes to provide career advice, support and experience to underrepresented groups with perceived barriers to employment.
2. Supporting recruitment across the business at every level by introducing untapped talent from underrepresented groups.
3. Promoting apprenticeship opportunities with Mitie Foundation candidates and partners.
4. Reducing the disability employment gap and increasing representation of disabled people in the contract workforce.
5. Supporting colleagues of all disabilities through training and apprenticeship programmes.
6. Promoting the benefits of giving back through volunteering and fundraising opportunities.
7. Embedding Mitie Foundation principles into the operational objectives of our key accounts and establishing training and awareness programmes to assist the Strategic Account Managers in delivery.
