So, how will leaders address this issue?
Using predictive data to uncover the challenges of tomorrow is one part of the equation. But another equally important component is looking at how we adapt our behaviours to minimise further impacts on the planet.
Our food system, for instance, currently contributes to around a third of greenhouse gas emissions and consumes the same amount of the world’s energy demand, relying largely on fossil fuels. This is a situation that must change for the good of the planet and its people – and putting those plans in place may be a priority at COP28.
All industries must now start looking at ways of reducing waste, assessing the impacts of their supply chains and finding alternative and more sustainable ways of operating.
