COP28 welcomes
non-state actors
For many, one of the most exciting elements of COP28 is the first involvement of non-state actors, including those from high emissions sectors, like oil and gas companies.
It makes perfect sense that those responsible for executing carbon reduction measures should play a part in their conception. This collaboration should increase the chances of success.
By including these stakeholders in discussions, along with other independent experts in fields such as decarbonisation and renewable energy, there’s a greater chance the outcome of this year’s conference will be positive.
