A need for efficiency

Finally, commitments to double energy efficiency and triple renewable energy capacity across the globe will be pitched to world leaders at this year’s event. It’s likely they’ll agree on a 2030 deadline.

So, what does that mean will happen?

Firstly, it means the next several years are likely to see an increase in national and local clean energy generation. This will lead to lots of investment opportunities in the green economy and technologies like solar photovoltaics (PV) and wind power.

It also means that some of these technologies may come down in price as demand rises, just like we’ve seen with solar panels over recent years. So, it may become easier than ever for your organisation to go green.

However, there is a “but”…

Renewable energy generation will place huge demands on electrical networks, so this is a battle that governments must fight on two fronts: first, developing renewable energy sources, and secondly, expanding national infrastructure to support them.

A good example of this is the rise in popularity of electric vehicles. Replacing internal combustion engine vehicles will ultimately have a huge effect on global emissions, but it’s only feasible with the appropriate charging infrastructure and electrical connections.

The same parameters apply for all forms of renewable energy generation, and it could take some major investment to make the necessary strides.
