Our recommended steps following COP28

At Mitie, we’re experts in decarbonisation and have helped dozens of organisations decarbonise their estates and generate their own renewable power.

As we ready ourselves for the start of COP28, our Plan Zero team are looking closely at the year ahead to establish what it might mean for us and our customers.

The first is to examine the robustness of your reporting and disclosure processes to prepare for a likely increase in legislation and auditability. The sooner you start addressing these things, the easier it will be to remain compliant as changes take place.

But, new legislation can be an opportunity, too. It often coincides with new initiatives. So, the second step is to continuously review the decarbonisation funding and incentives available, to ensure you’re taking full advantage of any opportunities.

Once COP28 has taken place, we’ll all have a clearer picture of where we stand.

This will be the time to start examining the strategies you have in place. That could mean a full review of your decarbonisation plan – one that considers the infrastructure required to meet your clean energy goals – or an overhaul of key processes, like water usage and waste reduction.
